Česlovas Gabalis and the band "Pelenai" have been moving in the same direction for three decades, remaining true to themselves and their listeners. "We never sought to be fashionable, we just wanted to be real," Česlovas said in an interview. It is this authenticity that has become the band's calling card.
January 1st at the Klaipėda Švyturys Arena is an evening when time will stop for a moment, and the space will be filled with music that has become the soundtrack to the lives of the band and several generations of listeners.
"Lullaby", "Sudie", "Laiškai", "Aš pvargau" - these are just a few of the band's songs that probably every Lithuanian music fan knows. However, the hits of Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart and other rock greats that have become part of their identity are also inseparable from "Pelenai" and Česlovas Gabalis. The ones that will be played at the concert - with the distinctive sound of the band "Pelenai" and the unique, deep and velvety voice of Česlovas.
Although we are celebrating our thirtieth anniversary, this concert is not a dry retrospective. It is a huge New Year's celebration with lively energy, legendary songs, and unfeigned emotion.
Few people know that the name "Ashes" and the first chords were born even earlier, but it was in January 1996, when Česlovas Gabalis joined the group, that the "golden" stage began. Gintas Banys, the author of almost all of the group's hits, always emphasized quality, not quantity. Back in 1998, in an interview, G. Banys said:
"We never looked for easy ways or cheap popularity. The most important thing for us is that the song has a backbone, and that when a person listens to it ten years later, they feel the same way we did when we created it."
This prophecy has come true - the songs sound as relevant today as they did several decades ago. "Pelenai" is stability, quality and that special vocal roughness, under which infinite sensitivity is hidden. This is a group whose composition has become a single organism over the past 30 years, and their performances are a sign of the highest level.
Today, the band consists of loyal friends who have become like a musical family: Česlovas Gabalis (vocals), Gintas Banys (bass guitar), Audrius Piragis (guitar), Martynas Lukoševicius (drums) and Saulius Didžiulis (keyboards).
On January 1st, we invite you to not only celebrate the band's 30th anniversary, but also to enter the new year together with music that has soul.
The concert will be filmed and photographed. The material may be used on social media or in the media.
