On Saturday, starting at 16 p.m., Klaipėda Neptūnas basketball players will face off against Kėdainiai Nevėžys-Paskolu Klubas at the Švyturys Arena. The importance of the match is great – a ticket to the final four of the King Mindaugas Cup (Citadele KMT) tournament.
This duel will be broadcast live from Klaipėda on the LRT Plus channel.
Neptūnas won the first match of the KMT quarterfinals in Kėdainiai on December 23 by a double-digit margin – 87:76, so it is important not to lose by a larger margin of points and the ticket to the final four will be won.
This week, there were some changes in the ranks of "Neptūnas" - they said goodbye to the tall Egidijus Mockevičius and added Latvian national team player Karlis Šilinš. The center has signed a contract until the end of the season.
"We hope that he will add height and solidity to us under the basket, and he is also a player who can spread the court and shoot from afar. He will make his debut in the next few games and we really hope for a quick integration into the team's game and locker room," said Neptūnas head coach Gediminas Petrauskas.
He urged Klaipėda basketball fans to come to this game and support their city team.
"The support of basketball fans is very important to us," the coach emphasized.
The Citadele KMT Final Four will be held on February 21-22 at Šiauliai Arena. Last year, Neptūnas took second place in this tournament, losing to Kaunas Žalgiris by just one shot – 89:91.
