The first victory of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL), sponsored by Betsson, was won by Klaipėda Neptūnas (1/1), who defeated Utena Juventus (0/2) 99:84 (18:16, 31:20, 28:20, 22:28) in front of their fans.
At the beginning of the match, Cameron Reynolds made accurate shots (5:6), although “Neptūnas” was pushing ahead – 8:5. Both teams exchanged three-pointers, Mindaugas Girdžiūnas and Henri Drell kept the hosts ahead – 14:10. However, Tevian Jones quickly restored the tie (14:14), and after the first half, “Neptūnas” had a small lead – 18:16.
After the break, Elvar Fridriksson and Yannick Franke pushed the hosts ahead (28:21), and Justas Furmanavičius' three-pointer did little to inspire the guests. The gap grew (36:27), and finally, thanks to H.Drell, it became double-digit – 40:29. “Neptūnas” firmly closed the first half of the match – 49:36.
Y. Franke and H. Drell increased the advantage of "Neptūnas" (56:39), although the legionnaires also reminded of themselves in the ranks of the opponents. Einars Tubutis' points turned the lead into a record one (71:52), but soon M. Girdžiūnas improved the record – 73:52.
Before the last quarter, Klaipėda crushed their opponents (77:56), and the situation did not change. Dominating and unstoppable in attack, Klaipėda recorded a confident victory.
