The song instantly became a cult hit, and the whole of Lithuania got to know and love the cute blonde with a big smile. He was only twenty-three then. Later, he will sing about the lion thousands of times, and the audience will keep asking him to repeat it...
"That guy from the clip will be 2025 years old in 60!" - laughs Žilvinas Žvagulis, who is preparing for the grand anniversary tour of arenas that will take place in March. Of course, there he will sing "Don't be sad, lion" again, because this historical song in his concerts "Žilvinas Žvagulis 60" is like icing on a delicious huge cake.
"Don't be sad, lioness" became the first superhit of Žilvinos Žvagulis and a real springboard for success. During the forty years he spent on the stage, he released 14 albums (in Lithuanian and Samogitian), sang dozens of super hits and became an extremely bright, and let's face it, legendary personality of the Lithuanian pop scene.
"Faina faina", "There is no beer in the sky", "Americon has returned son", "Lęba Pluok, Lęba Shuok" - few people have not heard these sincere and cheerful works. There are few people who have not sung along with a cheerful company during holidays and gatherings of friends.
Žilvinos Žvagulis' songs have always been close to people's hearts, just like himself - simple, having fun, not looking for words in his pocket and, it seems, never getting tired.
His life path would be more suited to a rock star. Over the course of four decades, he experienced both dizzying career highs, when crazy parties with friends seemed to never end, and psychologically difficult stages, where only those closest to him reached out.
He organized concerts, created businesses, took on impressive and risky projects. Always with endless love and optimism. Sometimes they rode on the winning horse, and sometimes they burned. But never gave up, and never got cocky.
Friends who have known him for many years can testify that he is as sincere as he is fierce. As he prepares to mark his sixtieth birthday with huge arena shows, he's bursting with energy as always and is almost on the spot.
"There is gunpowder! I feel obscenely too young inside. And I invite everyone who feels the same way to the anniversary shows," he says.
